Giovanni Verzellesi

Giovanni Verzellesi is full professor of Electronics at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. He received his first class honours degree (cum laude) in Electronics Engineering from the University of Bologna in 1989 and his Ph.D. in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Padova in 1994.
His main research activities are focused on: 1) the study of impact-induced ionization effects and stray resistance measurements in silicon BJTs; 2) the modeling, simulation, development and characterisation of silicon optic and chemical sensors and X-ray and ionizing particles detectors based on silicon and silicon-carbide substrates; 3) the study of GaAs and GaN field-effect transistors for high-power and radio-frequency applications. Giovanni is co-author of an industrial patent and is the author of 139 scientific publications, including 60 peer-reviewed papers published by international journals (29 by IEEE journals) and 72 congress presentations with published proceedings. Since 2003 he has been member of the steering committee of the HeTech european conference. In 2008 he was the General Chairman of that conference. Since 2009 he has been member of the Technical Programme Committee (CD subcommittee) of the IEEE IRPS conference. Giovanni has been also IEEE Senior Member since 2008.
